Core Aeration

Once per year during the fall season in Hampton Roads we will provide core aeration and seeding. Aeration is a vital aspect of lawn care and relieves soil compaction and increases the availability of air, water, and nutrients. Also, aeration minimizes thatch buildup.

De-Thatching

Thatch is a tightly intermingled layer of living and dead organic matter, primarily turf grass roots, stems, and blades. Thatch accumulates between the layer of actively-growing grass and the soil underneath. Thatch is a normal component of an actively growing turf grass. De-thatching encourages new, thick, lush grass shoots to grow and allows adequate water penetration and sunlight.

Applications

• Natural organic fertilizers
• Organic base slow release homogeneous fertilizer
• Low rate pre-emergent for weeds
• Annual soil testing for nutrient levels and soil pH
• Liming is included for your lawn
• Insect control is included
• Nut sedge control is included

Each lawn application program consists of six scheduled visits per year. Payment is due within thirty days from the date in which we serviced your lawn. We schedule our visits between five and nine week cycles. We periodically check lawns between visits; however, if there is a change in the condition of your lawn please feel free to call us. Service calls are free and we will be happy to respond to your questions.

The Lawn Barber carefully selects each product that we apply to your lawn. We apply our fertilizers according to your lawns specific needs. We use granular fertilizers and granular pre-emergent weed controls. We apply each product at the proper time of year to provide the lawn its essential needs. By applying proper products at the proper time of year we increase the lawns wear tolerance, heat tolerance and drought tolerance.

Winter

Pelletized lime for correcting soil pH is applied at a rate recommended by soil analysis. Liming allows Nutrients to be available for the grass plants and adds calcium and magnesium to the turf.

Early Spring

We will apply:

• Slow release granular fertilizer
• Pre-emergent crabgrass control for season long control
• Crabgrass pre and post emergent
• Spot control for broadleaf weeds
• In addition we will monitor for insects and disease as well as perform a lawn analysis

Late Spring

We will apply:

• Natural/Organic fertilizer
• Spot control for broadleaf weeds

In addition we will monitor for insects and disease as well as perform a lawn analysis.

Summer

We will:

• Perform a soil test analysis of macronutrients
• Perform a soil pH test
• Spot control broadleaf weeds and grassy weeds
• Spot control nut sedge
• Apply insect control (if needed)
• We will perform a lawn analysis

Early Fall

We will apply:

• Organic base homogeneous fertilizer
• Spot control for broadleaf weeds

In addition we will monitor for insects and disease as well as perform a lawn analysis.

Late Fall

We will apply:

• Organic base homogenous fertilizer
• Pre-emergent for broadleaf weeds
• Spot control for broadleaf weeds
• We will perform a lawn analysis

Nutri-green Application

During the fall season; normally in conjunction with over-seeding an organic-based product high in major nutrients that turf stands need is applied by topdressing turf areas. Nutri-Green® can play a vital part in promoting a strong turf management program.
